Thoroughly clean the injector copper sleeve inside the cylinder head using a specialized Vol-vo brush tool. Inspect the copper sleeve seat for scars or erosion. Ensure the fuel return galleries are clear.
Fit new upper and lower O-rings onto the injector body (note the different color/size specs). Lubricate them with clean engine oil. Do not use a copper washer, as this unit injector seals directly against the copper sleeve seat.
Carefully drop the injector into the sleeve. Align the fuel inlet and outlet ports on the injector body with the passages in the cylinder head before seating it completely.
Install the hold-down yoke. Tighten the retaining bolt using the Torque-Angle method (e.g., initial torque in Nm followed by a specific degrees turn, as per Vol-vo workshop manual). Never over-torque.
Rotate the engine to the correct timing mark on the flywheel. Adjust the injector rocker arm adjusting screw to set the precise mechanical pre-load (clearance/stroke) using a dial indicator or feeler gauge.
