Turn the engine to Top Dead Center (TDC) on cylinder No. 1. Lock the timing gear in place.
Clean the mounting surface on the engine front cover.
Put a new, oiled O-ring onto the pump mounting flange.
Line up the pump shaft keyway and timing marks with the engine drive gear.
Slide the pump into position and tighten the mounting bolts by hand first, then torque them down evenly.
Hold the pump shaft steady and tighten the main drive gear nut to specification. Do not use an impact gun.
Connect the low-pressure fuel hoses and the high-pressure steel pipe. Use new copper washers.
Plug in the Suction Control Valve (SCV) and sensor electrical connectors until they click.
Use the manual hand pump to bleed all air out of the fuel system.
Start the engine and check closely for any fuel or oil leaks around the pump.
