A: This pump primarily fits the Hyundai K-TRUCK (Light Commercial Vehicle/Light Duty Truck) equipped with a common rail diesel engine.
A: Because it is a high-pressure unit operating in a common rail system, common signs of failure include:
Difficulty starting the engine (long cranking times), especially when hot.
Sudden engine stalling or dropping into "limp mode" under acceleration.
Lack of power or poor throttle response due to insufficient fuel rail pressure.
Black or white smoke from the exhaust.
A: The number one killer of common rail pumps is fuel contamination. Water or fine dirt particles in the diesel ruin the internal components (like the plungers or the suction control valve). Regular fuel filter changes are mandatory to prevent this.
A: Sometimes, yes! The SCV (part number 294200-0190) controls the fuel metering into the pump. If your vehicle is experiencing rough idling or surging, replacing just the valve can fix it. However, if the internal plungers are physically scored or damaged, the entire pump must be replaced.
A:
Flush the system: You must completely clean out the fuel tank and fuel lines before installing the new pump. If your old pump failed by shearing metal shavings, those shavings will destroy your new pump instantly.
Sealing ring caution: Take great care when fitting the pump to ensure the mounting O-ring/sealing ring isn't pinched or damaged, which causes oil or fuel leaks.
A: No. Unlike common rail injectors, which require specific IMA coding entered into the engine ECU, a mechanical high-pressure fuel pump like the HP4 does not require digital calibration programming to run. It simply needs a proper fuel system priming to clear any trapped air before first starting.
