Cleanliness: Thoroughly clean the engine bay and pump area. A single speck of dust can ruin the common rail system.
Safety: Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Seals: Always replace the shaft O-ring and pipe gaskets with brand-new ones.
Disconnect and cap the low-pressure fuel inlet and return lines.
Remove the high-pressure fuel pipe (pump-to-rail) and immediately cap all openings.
Unplug the SCV (Suction Control Valve) and fuel temperature sensor.
Rotate the crankshaft to set Cylinder No.1 to Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke. Align timing marks.
Loosen the pump drive gear nut, use a gear puller to free the pump shaft, and remove the pump.
Lubricate the new pump shaft O-ring with clean engine oil.
Align the pump shaft keyway with the drive gear groove while keeping the engine at TDC.
Insert the pump and hand-tighten the mounting bolts before torquing them to spec.
Tighten the pump drive gear nut to specification.
Finger-tighten the high-pressure fuel pipe nuts to ensure proper seating, then torque to spec using a flare nut wrench.
Reconnect all electrical connectors and low-pressure fuel lines.
Do not start dry. Pump the hand primer on the fuel filter until it becomes firm to bleed air from the system.
Reconnect the battery and turn the ignition ON (do not start) to check for low-pressure leaks.
Start the engine and let it idle. Do not rev.
Inspect all connections for high-pressure fuel leaks.
